Alright we ve all
switched out the light bulbs. Now what? Are you done? Am I as green
as I can be? Not yet. The Truckee Donner Public Utilities District
and NV Energy are offering a wide range of next step rebates that
help you improve your green standing, save you energy and now save
you more money. Receive highlights of each company s offerings with
links to get more info.
One great program that
NV Energy offers is a free energy audit evaluation of your monthly
energy bill, from there you can make decisions about what you want to
do to save energy and ultimately save money. There are specific
rebates geared towards home and business. Here are just a few:
You can receive
rebates on improved heating systems. It may be odd to think about
heating as it s warming up into spring, but the rebates are valid
right now. This is a great time to do contract work so that you ll
be ready to heat your house more efficiently next fall and winter.
You can also recycle
your old refrigerator. Using a state of the art process over 95% of
it can be recycled. If you have your old fridge picked up you get $30
cash. Today more efficient refrigerators can save you lots of energy
and money.
As a business, you can
also benefit from participating in various rebate programs. NV Energy
offers incentives through their Sure Bet program to use energy
wisely. Call now to see if you qualify.
There are also
exciting opportunities to learn about energy efficiency. Through a
wide range of professional development workshops, you can learn the
latest ways to save your business energy and money. Log on to

Truckee-Donner PUD
If
you live in Truckee and you haven t switched out your light bulbs
yet, the Truckee Donner PUD is offering
its customers $2 a bulb when you buy and install Compact Fluorescent
Light bulbs (CFLs). They ve also launched a commercial rebate
program to provide 33% cash back of project cost on any purchase and
installation of high efficiency lighting systems. Lighting is one of
the easiest ways that we can save money, if you haven t switched
over to an efficient lighting system, the time is now.
The PUD also offers
extensive rebates on appliances. You can receive $100 cash back for
purchase of an Energy Star rated appliance. If you are still trying
to make that old clothes washer or refrigerator last a few more
years, consider replacing it now and you ll realize even more value
than waiting with increased energy savings and money back.
If your house or
building is a leaky sieve, then you want to do a building envelope
test and seal the leaks. Tightening your building envelope can save
you lots of money in retained heat in the winter and cooler air in
the summer. You could get up to $250 cash back from the PUD for
sealing your building envelope.
