PLACER COUNTY MEETING ON SUSTAINABILITY PLAN
April 23rd, 2018
from Placer County:
This is an invitation to meet with us and discuss the County’s efforts to prepare a Sustainability Plan.
The intent of this plan is to:
1. identify key sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the unincorporated county,
2. provide a strategy to reduce GHG emissions and assist statewide goals,
3. provide a streamlining process for development projects subject to CEQA, and
4. establish resources to help residents adapt to the effects of extreme weather conditions.
At this time, we have completed step 1 of this process with the preparation of the Placer County Government Operations and Community-wide GHG Emissions Inventory (located on the Sustain Placer webpage).
We are beginning phase 2 of this planning process by brainstorming measurable and feasible greenhouse gas reduction measures with stakeholders.
As part of these efforts, we would like to meet with you and your team early in the process to discuss the plan and to learn about issues of interest to you. One of the goals of the plan will be to serve as a “qualified” greenhouse reduction strategy, consistent with the CEQA provisions in Section 15183.5, which would allow for future development to potentially streamline their review of project-level GHG emissions analysis and provide more certainty to the development review process. This plan will also include strategies to improve resiliency of our built environment, particularly from the hazards of a changing climate. We look forward to talking with you about the plan and hearing your suggestions and questions.
County staff and our consultants are available to meet for a one-hour meeting the afternoon of April 23rd and from 9:30 am – 11: 30 am & 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm on April 25th.
If these dates do not work for you, please contact us to set up an individual meeting.
