Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvements:

May 15 at 5:30 p.m.
in the North Tahoe Conference Center
The process of making a community-wide decision regarding the roadway alternatives will be the focus of the third workshop. Attendees will be asked to participate outdoors in an interactive exercise in order to inform their decisions and move toward a community consensus for a preferred roadway alternative.

Upcoming deadline for registering for the Great Basin Food Basket:
One of small-scale agriculture's fastest growing niche markets is community supported agriculture (CSA). As the name implies, a CSA farm directly serves a "community" or group of customer's families. Members (or subscribers) purchase "shares" in the weekly harvest on an annual basis, committing to the farm early in the year. The CSA arrangement is beneficial to both farms and the people they serve.

The Great Basin Food Basket is a collaboration between you, your fellow citizens within the Truckee Meadows area and dedicated farmers from around the area that wish to support the market for healthy, fresh and wholesome food. Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) allows farmers to sell their products directly to their communities. Our mission at the Great Basin Basket is to provide northern Nevada families with the best quality of locally grown seasonal produce grown by our local organic farmers. Farmers include Home Grown Nevada (the Smith Family in Smith Valley), Lattin Farms (in Fallon), Sierra Valley Farm (the Romano Family in Sierra Valley), and Sodbuster Farm (the Shirk Family). Other local farmers may be included as their production and basket space allows.
