SiGBA Events October 6 Home Tour and SEED SiGBA Speaker Series in September brought Stephen Witek of Sustainable Environment Engineered Design (SEED). In the comforts of Cedar House Sport Hotel, Stephen presented an overview of ASHRAE energy codes, LEED credits, and energy analyses. Stephen brought an interactive, in depth presentation of simple ways to reduce energy consumption in buildings. His presentation included examples as simple as the type of window treatments used indoors to PV laminates and solar tubes on the exterior. If you missed this event, be sure to check out our Home Tour this weekend to see some of the examples presented in person at one of SEED's project homes. With that, don't forget the Home Tour Saturday October 6! One of SiGBA's biggest continuing successes. This year's Home Tour will begin at 64 acres park in Tahoe City. Saturday registration starts at 8:30am and we depart at 9:15am. We'll be hauled off in bio-diesel fueled buses towards Alpine Meadows, Dollar Point and Meeks Bay. A midday stop back at 64 acres park will include a lunch before continuing on the tour. So bring your friends, colleagues and family for a day of learning and fun (isn't learning always fun?). For more information, check out our website, http://www.sigba.org/calendar/northshoretahoegre/ . Also important Events Committee news is that our Chairperson, Julie Duvivier is stepping down from the position, as she will no longer be in the area. If any volunteers out there would like to take on this responsibility, contact SiGBA to be included in the upcoming election. As always, we love helpers. If you're interested in volunteering at any commitment level, let us know! SiGBA Orangizational Update Due to financial restraints and organizational restructuring needs, the Board has accepted the resignation of Greg Jones as SiGBA's Executive Director effective October 1, 2007. Organizational restructuring is ensuring that this change doesn't cause any disruption to the services we provide to our members and the community. Our restructuring will enable SiGBA to better offer green building educational and promotional outreach for our business and individual members. For 2008, we aim to consolidate our committees into two main categories: Events and Sustainability. In 2008, we will budget for a part-time staff position. If you would like to know more about SiGBA's restructuring, please contact us at 877-744-2248. Not a Member? What's in it for ME?
